Assistant Coach of the Year
Brad Erickson Wayzata High School, Section 4

I would like to nominate Brad Erickson as Assistance Coach of the Year. Brad has been a Coach at Wayzata High School for the past 9 years. The Ski Team has grown during this period from 40 skiers to over 90 due to the enthusiasts and fun attitude that Brad brings to the sport. The Athletes love Brad because he is nonjudgmental and just want to teach them to ski fast and to ski for a lifetime.
Brad is always ready to help in any way he can, often anticipating needs before they become apparent. He is always loaning out his equipment to athletes who have forgotten, broken, old or ill-fitting skis, poles, gloves or hats.
Brad is an excellent ski racer himself and is able to transfer this knowledge to both the beginning skier and advanced racer. He is extremely patient, never giving up on even the most challenging beginner until they become a skier.
Brad has helped developed a ski trail at the High School and grooms the trail: this results in much better use of the athletes time as they don’t have to bus to ski areas, saving the athletes at least an hour per day.
Brad also volunteers his time to Minneapolis Ski Club and the City of Lakes Loppet Ski Race. He has been a major contribution to the success of the City Of Lakes Loppet.
Brad does all this and more while working full time.
Brad’s dedication to Cross Country Skiing and the Wayzata Ski Team make Brad an excellent choice as Assistance Coach of the Year.
