Mickey Scott

Mickey Scott has coached Nordic for 15 years at SPA. She has been teaching kids and adults of all ages to nordic ski for 23 years! Her first date with her husband was nordic skiing, 32 years ago!!! Before Mickey had kids (three strapping young boys) , she coached swimming, danceline and track at BSM. She feels like a bit of a pioneer in the nordic coaching world......not many women, especially at her young age. Mainly, not that many women who are also teachers in their schools.

Mickey works hard to build the sport of Nordic skiing as a life-time sport and introduce new kids to the sport, not just focusing on success at the State Meet. Along the way, though, she has always had kids at the state meet every year!!! She also respect and honor her skiers academic commitments and family/personal lives. It is a challenge to balance the three ~ nordic training, academics and family, especially with our snowless winters!!!!

However, her goal is to build solid, well-rounded teenagers by helping them make good decisions in tough situations. Mickey says, “ I am also fortunate to have an amazing coaching staff....I didn't and couldn't do this alone!”

I have appreciated having Mickey coaching in our conference. She takes a leadership role and is always willing to lend a helping hand to new coaches.

Mickey hosts our conference preseason and postseason coaches meetings and never fails to provide a delicious pie to accompany the meeting.
