Arne Roheim Exchange Coach from Norway 2005-2006 Arne Roheim is employed as an auditor/accountant for the Norwegian government. His home in Norway, is located just between the start and finish of the Birkebeinerrennet (Norwegian Birkie) this sealed his interests in XC skiing. He plans on racing the Norwegian Birkie for 16th time this winter and hopes to finish in the top 25 % for the 9th time. Arne will be skiing The Vasaloppet for the 5th time on the first weekend after arriving back in Norway after spending his sabbatical period in Duluth. Arne also races in the Birkie bike race this summer. The Birkie Bike Race starts in Rena and finishes in Lillehammer for a distance of 89 kilometers!
For the past 10 years Arne has been coaching the master skiers in Hamar Skiklubb (local Ski Club). The club has about 80-100 skiers that ski the Norwegian Birkie each year. This winter Arne’s first priority will be the high school students at Marshall. Last summer he attended the second highest coaching course arranged by the Norwegian Ski Federation. This course focused on junior skiers.
Arne feels that all though not every one can become an Olympic/world/US champion, through this excellent sport of Nordic skiing everyone has the possibility to experience some good lessons which they can benefit from later in life. |

Head Coach Dave Johnson Even though Dave is half way to 92 and way out of shape, he still swings a mean sledge hammer. Dave loves anything connected with nordic skiing. He is proud to be one of the coaches of the Marshall Nordic Ski Team.

Evan Jordan Varsity Assistant Evan Jordan is from the happy little town of Menomonie, WI. Growing up, he did not have the luxury of having a high school team, but he did have some very helpful parents and coaches (especially Mr. Scott Wilson). After years of work, Evan's high school career was highlighted by winning the junior skate race at the Badger State Games and finishing 2nd in the overall pursuit race. Since high school, Evan has trained and raced for both the CODP and Antonina's Ski School before untimately retiring. Last spring he graduated w. a BS in Cellular Biology, of all things. Since retirement he'd tell you that skiing is even more enjoyable and interesting. After this season, Evan is moving to Bozeman, MT to work as a crew leader for the Montana Conservation Corp. He enjoys the music of the Talking Heads, Roxy Music and baile funk. |

Brandy Forsman Jr. High Coach Brandy Forsman teaches Physical Science here at Marshall and thought it would be nice to give back to a sport that she loves. Mostly though she is excited for an excuse to get outside after school. For the past 6 years she has raced 3 marathon ski races each season. She may not be up in the elite wave, but she is perfectly content just doing her best and finishing with a smile. However, there is a small germ of competition growing. She has admitted that making it into the top 20 in her age group at the Birkie would be pretty cool. |
